Freefall3 will be held at Apocalypse Paintball in Poynette, WI, on the weekend of July 18-19. We will have the entire Apoc field at our disposal for airsoft play, as well as a large off-field tent city area for wheelin', dealin', stealin' and brawlin' among folk. Registration and gameplay will begin at 4pm on Saturday the 18th and continue through Saturday evening and all day Sunday the 19th. Preregistration info, game details, and rules changes will be posted soon on the freefallgame.com website.
Background: Attracted by all the activity in the area, Reavers have attacked and destroyed the small independent port of Freefall on the planet Ataraxia. The Magistrate of Ataraxia has disappeared, and it is widely rumored (but currently unconfirmed) that he was among the casualties. Survivors of the carnage at Freefall have formed a refugee camp on the outskirts of the nearest habitable area, a fortress colony maintained by a militant religious cult calling itself the Followers of the True Path. Reaver depredations in the area continue, and illegal mining operations are rumored to continue as well. With the Magistrate missing, his army and police forces in tatters and his leasehold on Ataraxia in limbo, Alliance Task Force 7 is attempting to maintain order in the camp while organizing the construction and defense of a New Freefall settlement.

Hey everyone,
I'm working with Todd on updating the website again soon. You'll see new rules, the registration info, etc soon. Also, once my media compression program and YouTube stop being poops, I've got a whole slew of new videos I'll be posting.
Hope to see you all out to the new location for Freefall this year... it will be a heck of a good time.
Now to formulate the defense from Reaver attacks... :P

I hoping to be able to go. Things have flipped upside down here in the last month. We will be moving out July 1 to new digs and trying to sell the condo short so it will go. Long story is I need to move out to keep the family healthy and get my blood psi down. The new renting neighbors below us are pain in the azz. Legaly we could end the conflict or non legally I could end it(lol), but I feel this is my out instead. Besides, I like sunlight and exchanging bb's instead of stamping plates. Sorry to drone but I hate missing good alternative games.

Ryan and I are chunking out all the details this week, so stay posted.
In the meantime, here are the new "Rules for Reavers." if you crave a truly bestial and INTENSE continuous combat experience, you should consider playing a Reaver Captain - but be warned that this role is only for the most bloodthirsty and energetic among us (you know who you are....) Anyway, the rules:
-At Freefall3, we have added a new player character role. Paying players have the option of registering to play Reaver Captain characters for the duration of the game. Reaver Captains are allowed to use any weaponry or armor they choose but do not collect money or engage in conversations with other players. REAVERS DO NOT LOOT. Rather than looting, Reaver Captains only seek to capture other players alive in order to expand their own Reaver Crew. The goal of every Reaver Captain is to lead the largest Reaver Crew. Reaver Captains are rivals and do not cooperate with each other. In the absence of other players to capture and "eat," Reaver Captains will lead raids on other Reaver Crews in order to capture more Reavers to add to their own Crews. The Reaver Captain character role is best suited for the most trigger-happy and aggressive players, as it requires almost constant immersion in combat.
-Ordinary paying players who are killed in the course of the game must do “community disservice” by playing Reavers for a period of at least 1 hour before being allowed to start new characters. The Reaver referee will assign you to a Reaver Crew and will inform the event coordinator when you have done your time. Players may always opt to remain Reavers if they find that they prefer life in a Reaver Crew to life in Freefall Camp.
-Players caught cheating, breaking the rules, or being troublesome outside of game rules will be penalized by being forced to play as a Reaver for a period of time determined by the event coordinator. The Reaver referee will inform the event coordinator when you have done your time.
-Reavers must wear appropriate clothing and gear to portray their image. This is required, especially for Reaver Captains.
-Reavers are never allowed to talk to non-Reaver characters (only guttural gurgles, screams, growls) unless it is in out-of-game context and only if it is extremely important - a safety emergency, injury, etc. Maintaining the savage image of the Reaver is the most important part of playing one. If a Reaver player needs a break, comes into town for food, or needs to return to the safe zone, they should remove the more savage parts of their clothing and return to town as a “local”.
-Reaver Crews cannot use advanced team tactics other than shooting, running, wave attacks, and moving to close combat. Reavers will always pursue a running character, much like a feral dog will always chase a running small animal.
-Reavers will try to stun and drag live or wounded captives off for "eating," but have no interest in dead players displaying kill rags because the dead will soon be reinserted as Reavers anyway. If a Reaver drags a captured player back to their base, the captured player is considered "bound" and will be "eaten" in 15 minutes. After those 15 minutes, the "eaten" player immediately respawns as a Reaver for a period of at least 1 hour (as per normal character death.) The "eaten" player respawns as a member of the last Reaver Crew to have possession - in other words, a Reaver Captain must defend his captured "meat" from other Reaver Crews for the entire 15 minutes if he hopes to add the captive to his Crew. A captured player who is rescued by Alliance or other forces before the 15 minutes are up is considered to have been saved from the Reavers, but is also automatically considered to be Severely Wounded and must be given immediate medical attention.
-Reavers cannot be healed by med packs and cannot be looted. Wounded Reavers may only be captured by rival Reaver Crews or scalped by non-Reaver players.
-Reavers are wounded as normal by gunfire. Reavers require 2 hits from wounding melee weapons to be taken down, but must role play each hit dramatically. Reavers also require 3 hits from NERF/boffer shots to stun, but must role play each hit dramatically. As per other players, stunned Reavers revive as soon as they are touched by another player. If a stunned Reaver is revived by a member of a different Reaver Crew, the revived Reaver immediately joins the Crew that revived him or her. -When a Reaver is wounded, they fall to the ground with NO kill rag visible. After 2 minutes, if no one comes up and “scalps” the Reaver, the Reaver stands up and continues playing. Reavers cannot attack people from the ground until they fully rise again and cannot be shot during this time. Reaver Crews may guard their wounded so that they may rise up again without being captured by another Reaver Crew or scalped by a non-Reaver player. If a wounded Reaver is abandoned by their Crew and is not scalped, that Reaver joins the first Reaver Crew they encounter after reviving. A wounded Reaver Captain abandoned by his Crew will not join any other Crew, but will attempt to recruit a new Crew upon reviving.
-If any players decide to “camp” on a downed Reaver solely to shoot them over and over again as they revive, that Reaver may voluntarily go back to respawn and will prevent anyone from taking their “scalp”. -Reavers are only killed when another player gets within arm’s reach and “scalps” the Reaver. This is the act of finishing the Reaver off. The Reaver must hand over their “scalp” (a small piece of hair or fake fur provided at respawn) and then they don their kill rag and walk back to the Reaver respawn. Certain characters in the game may offer bounties for Reaver scalps. Reaver Captains will not scalp another ordinary Reaver, but take great delight in scalping other Reaver Captains and wearing the scalps of their vanquished rivals on their garb.
-If a Reaver is killed by scalping, they must return to a Reaver landing zone (respawn) near their nest and will "arrive on the next Reaver ship" and respawn in 15 minutes. This gives the opposing players time to clear out their nest and accomplish objectives. New and respawned Reavers are assigned to Reaver Crews by the Reaver referee. A scalped Reaver Captain respawns normally and may be assigned a fresh Crew by the Reaver referee at that referee's discretion.

Triple Post!!!
OK, in answer to your prayers, the tentative plan is this:
- $35 preregistered, $40 at the door.
- Overnight camping allowed in the "Freefall Refugee Camp."
- Onsite Registration and camp set-up opens at noon on Saturday, July 18.
- Game On at 4pm to midnight on Saturday, resuming at 8am to 4pm Sunday. Apoc will serve their fabulous spicy spaghetti lunch on Sunday, and there will also be a debrief meeting from 4-5pm Sunday. Event over and camp teardown at 5pm Sunday.
All of this, with minor or no changes, will be officially posted on the Freefall website soon. Freefall3 is going to be the most intense, action-packed game in the series so far - don't miss it!

Yes, by all means bring tents, lots of tents. I encourage everyone to bring as many tents/tarps/screens as they can lay a hand to, so we can have a tent city-sized Freefall Refugee Camp with lots of hidey holes and little alleyways. Also, it is highly recommended that all players bring simple quick-and-dirty Reaver garb that can be put on and off easily in case one was to be temporarily "Reaverized" for an hour at some point during the game (hey, it happens to the best of us sometimes.) If you don't have the wherewithal it's no big deal since Ryan and I will have loaner Reaver gear available, but come on, you KNOW you want your own personal Reaver outfit and you can start with any ratty piece of shredded dark cloth or leather....

Hey everyone,
Todd (event coordinator) has given me the go ahead to post up the new event rules. The event rules are now available at the event website. This is a LARP, so the ruleset is a bit more involved than your standard airsoft game. Please make sure you read through these rules before you attend Freefall so you know what is going on. The rules for playing Reavers are also listed on the details page. www.freefallgame.com/details.html
I am also pleased to announce that you may view a short documentary called the "Alliance Chronicles" on YouTube. This was shot from an Alliance perspective and details the actions of Alliance Federal Task Group 7 during its peacekeeping and humanitarian aid missions during Freefall II last year.

Peacekeeping Humanitarian aid mission? Don't you mean the occupation and pillaging of the planet surface? Let alone the oppression of the free people who call this planet home?

The juicy roles are going fast, so contact me soon if you want to play something special. We still have openings for armed refugees, militant cultists, organized crime Enforcer thugs, and Reaver Captains.
The Followers of the True Path cult leadership is in place, Alliance Task Force 7 is ready to roll and may be receiving local assistance from the Ataraxian Volunteer Militia Force 10 (AVMF 10) if the team accepts my role offer. There are also two transport ship crews confirmed, so the Waxwing will have a little competition this year. We have two Reaver Captains confirmed so far, but there is plenty of room for more.
We are going to try another innovation this year that we are calling the Freefall Bazaar. It will work like a swap meet; individuals and teams can bring extra gear/weapons/site-legal stuff that they can then barter with other players or the Trading Post for items or game cash. Any player can sell for barter or game cash from a blanket or table in the Freefall Camp area - this could be a fun "game within a game" role for those Firefly fans that want to play characters in the safe area only and do not want to risk getting shot up onfield. Professional vendors with valid Wisconsin Sales Tax numbers may sell items for real money, but they must register with me first and agree to provide $50's-worth of product for sale for game cash as their vendor booth fee. Anyone with questions regarding vending items should contact me at sgryphon@tcc.coop
During Freefall3, Judy has volunteered to run the Trading Post and play Queen of the Bazaar - with a stunner in each hand, no doubt. She will be the onsite barter/vending coordinator.

The Brown Coats will be embarking on a missionary trip to Ataraxia. This will include a Sunday morning service called "Reavers are not Believers" It will be held before the Sunday orientation or when ever the magistrate schedules it in. All Brown Coats should come armed for this trip. Please plan accordingly. If you will be coming in as a Brown Coat please PM me. Sitting in the no shoot zone wheeling, dealing, lying, and cheating will not earn you enough shiny stuff for the trip home. Brown coats possess wanted skills by many people. We plan to use them with accordance of Ataraxia law.

Hey everyone,
I know this is insanely short notice, but there will be a WAA AEC held tomorrow at about 11am on the field. Apoc Paintball is transitioning into requiring the AEC for their field this year for players 17 years old and younger, so if you have a chance to make it early and attend the class, please do so.
If you miss the AEC tomorrow you can still play, but if you are planning on being there early please try to attend. There was some confusion about the AEC requirement and a few WAA members have volunteered their time to run a course before Freefall kicks in, but the time frame is very short so it is understandable if you cannot attend.
See you all tomorrow! :)
